DanceStep

We are thrilled that Kristen's Dance Studio has been an Affiliate Member of the DanceStep (Dance Studio Teacher Education Program) since 2018.

We believe that dance students learn more than simply the steps within their time in the studio. Students learn to be part of a team and a community, to be resilient and tenacious, to enjoy the rewards of delayed gratification and many other important life skills. For many, the dance studio becomes a second home where students feel safe, nurtured and encouraged to reach their full potential in all aspects of life.

DanceStep, a 4 level Student Teacher Education Program, builds on this philosophy and provides a progressive and formalised process including both practical and theoretical components.

DanceStep empowers students to take care of others and guides them to be leaders and role models. The program covers assistant teaching skills such as behaviour management, different learning needs and styles, Safe Dance Principles and Anatomy to name just a few. These concepts are taught in a sequential and age appropriate way to children from ten years of age. Whether students are considering a career in dance teaching or otherwise, the DanceStep program is a great preparation for many aspects of life.

Troupe Teams & Solo Performers

IF YOU LOVE DANCING AND PERFORMING THEN WHY NOT JOIN OUR PERFORMANCE TROUPE OR BECOME A SOLOIST?!

Our performance troupe is aimed at the elite of KDS. Those students with the passion and determination to improve and be the best they can be in a Team.

The group travel and perform at eisteddfods around the region and other community events that arise throughout the year. (This opportunity is also given to soloists)

Being a member of our Performance Troupe and also a soloist involves attending weekly rehearsals as well as extra rehearsals as the need arises.

Performance Troupe - $120 (Plus GST) per term.

Troupe classes are not included in the family fees rate and will be added to your invoice each term.

Private Lesson (Soloists) - $1 per minute (the appropriate class length can be discussed between the teacher and students/parents.

Solo classes will be invoiced separately at the end of each term and are not included in the family fees rate.

These opportunities are a great way to develop confidence and technical ability for enthusiastic young dancers!

Our Performance Troupe is split into six key age groups:

Mini (6yrs),

Petite (8yrs),

Junior (10yrs),

Pre Teen (12yrs)

Teen (14yrs)

Opens (15+)

Acceptance is selective and is assessed via an audition process.

All Performance Troupe and Solo students must be enrolled in weekly ballet and jazz classes at a minimum.

Workshops

We occasionally will be lucky enough to host workshops at our KDS studio. All families will receive information regarding any upcoming workshops.
